On Saturday July 9th Central Vermont Roller Derby’s Twin City Riot traveled 5 hours to bout it out in New Hartford, NY against the Utica Rollergirls.
Though the drive long, the Rioters were rested and ready. The bout was short-handed on referee’s but the teams made do with three inside refs and one outside. The first half was neck and neck. Towards the end of the half Bunny Yeager Bomb got wailed on pretty hard by Utica’s Gwyneth Pout N’ Throw and the teams took a knee to wait to see if Yeager would get up. She did and sat out the last three jams of the first half.
The first half ended with Utica up by 11 points.
The Rioters started the second half strong with good blocking and hard hits to Utica’s jammers. Pulling ahead the Riot continued to stay focused and won the bout 112 against Utica’s 85.

Much Thanks to the Utica Rollergirls and Janelle Rodriguez Photography!
Sporting events are big productions and need lots of volunteers! We understand this and so recently we’ve offered to help out with the Vermont Frost Heaves basketball team at some of their games.
Here are some photos of us with them.

We will be helping them at a future game as well on February 10th!

Have you got your goals set for 2011?
Central Vermont Roller Derby has.
We’re almost set up with our bouting space for this year. In doing so we’ll be able to have regular bouts, scrimmages, and practices. We are currently planning some bouts/scrimmages for 2011!
We’re also working internally on our structure so that we can better meet our league and player needs.
Recruitment will be a high priority.
Business partnerships are important to us. This year we’ll be working closely with area businesses to establish working relationships.
We’ll be sure to post regularly to let you all know what’s happening with Central Vermont Roller Derby and Twin City Riot.
Need some help setting goals/resolutions for 2011? Try Open Skate in Montpelier tomorrow 7-9PM. IT’S FREE, GOOD EXERCISE and you’ll make new friends! Skating not your thing? Contact us about volunteering or being a referee.
We just donated to @burlingtonbombersrollerderby holiday drive! We hope you help them raise money or donate what you can for local agencies in the area to benefit families in need this holiday season.
